Could my child's diabetes actually be a different type?
Not every case of diabetes in children is classic Type 1. MODY (Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young) is a genetic form that's sometimes misdiagnosed as Type 1, and LADA is a slower-developing autoimmune form that can appear in older adolescents. If your child's presentation doesn't quite fit the typical pattern, it's worth raising directly with your endocrinologist.
