What is Growth Hormone Deficiency (GHD)?

Growth hormone deficiency occurs when the pituitary gland doesn’t produce enough growth hormone, which is essential for bone and tissue development. While GHD can occur at any age, it is often identified in children with slowed height growth, typically less than 3.5 cm per year from age three onward.

Signs of Growth Hormone Deficiency

Slow height growth

Below expected height velocity

Decreased muscle mass

Less muscle growth and strength

Increased body fat

Difficulty in losing fat, especially around the abdomen

Weaker bones

Greater risk of fractures and osteoporosis

Fatigue and low energy

Feeling more tired and sluggish

Reduced exercise capacity

Difficulty performing physical activities

Impaired cognitive function

Difficulty with memory and concentration

What low GH can lead to

Puberty concerns

Pubertal concerns are often linked to growth, weight, emotional health, and lifestyle. We take a holistic,
age-sensitive approach to ensure your child receives the support they need at every stage.
We use a combination of physical exams, hormone testing, bone age X-rays, and imaging when needed to accurately diagnose and monitor progress.

Early puberty (precocious puberty)

We assess and treat early signs of puberty, such as breast or testicular development, rapid height gain, or early menstruation—typically before age 8 in girls or 9 in boys.

Delayed puberty

If puberty hasn’t started by age 13 in girls or 14 in boys, we evaluate hormone levels, growth patterns, and bone maturity to guide treatment with hormone therapy when appropriate.

Irregular puberty

This includes concerns like absent or irregular periods, mood swings, or signs of PMOS in adolescent girls. Our care combines medical, nutritional, and emotional support for a balanced approach.

Struggling with insurance approval? No problem!

The metabolic GH Program offers an all-inclusive quarterly subscription for just

AED 2,195

a cost-effective solution compared to individual consults and testing.

While most insurance companies don’t cover GH therapy, despite it being recommended in medical guidelines, the metabolic GH Program removes the hassle of dealing with insurance.
